The "hotels" menu leads graphically to selected places to stay around Taiwan. "Beautiful Formosa" reveals informative text passages. "Taiwan Delicacies" gives you a look at 7 special tourism areas. Content you can't find on other sites makes this one worthwile.

This government sponsored website is essentially a photo gallery, but the topics it pursues and the text that is attached provide more information and history than most of the more academically intended. Social Evolution, Natural Scenery, Wildlife Conservation, Customs and Festivals, Culture and the Arts, and Concern for Human Rights are the topics of the photo presentations. Good photo essays.

Taiwan's Penghu County encompasses a group of islands in the Straits of Taiwan between the island of Taiwan and mainland China. The "About Penghu County" website takes you on a tour of the attractions of this small island group that is poised to become a major resort venue. A deal with a Scottish company to develop the first resort is reported on the site. Easy navigation and many pleasant photos mark the text.

Though organized as a travel magazine with changing issues, the information in "Travel in Taiwan" was suspended in time somewhere in 1995. Fortunately, most of the features present topics that have retained their relevance - like eating for warmth in the winter. The quick access to general information about basic places in Taiwan still makes this website a good visit. Just don't count on the prices being accurate today.
