Tourism of India

The Department of Tourism website welcomes you, gives you weather information, an events calendar, some Hindi phrases, a hotel database, and then gets to the goods. The Travel Guide section takes you all around the country with just enough information about each of the states and important cities of India. The site's best work comes in the photo and video galeries, where you can take automated tours of hundreds of slides or watch narrated video clips in 5 categories. Don't let the site's simple front end fool you; this one has the stuff.
