Chile Information Project

The Chile Information Project (CHIP) Travel Guide is your best bet for quick, good information about traveling in Chile. Through clickable maps for geographical regions and for the National Park system and with a comfortable notebook format, the site shows you Chile's greal range of travel opportunities. A marvelous introduction -Chile 101- has culture, geography, and food background; travel essays in 6 topics give you informal views of specific events and places; the hotel information is the most comprehensive on the web; and you can check the local news through the Santiago Times.

Visit Chile

The Visit Chile site, a join production by the Tourist Promotion Corporation Chile and the Chilean Tourism Board, gives you great connections to the many activites of this beautiful country. Through a clickable map or by pull-down menus, you can enter seven geographical areas of Chile and sort through the 26 activities listed in their menus. Brief comments and short lists for cuisine, hotels, and tour operators appear. Good beginning site to see the range and nature of visitor opportunities.

Chile.com

A large amount of information is resides in Chile.com. The English pages have sections on basic facts, which includes a good history in overview, on all 13 governmental regions, and on investments in Chilean business. The sub-sections on regions give you articles, with no links, unfortunately, on several topics for each part of the country. Excursions into the Spanish language section are rewarding if for nothing more than the pictures.

Go Chile

Go Chile has informative articles that feature restaurants, hotels, tours, and reference works. Beyond this inobtrusive opening, the site contains solid information about activities throughout Chile and very good databases for restaurants, shopping, and accommodations. Destinations are clearly and quickly presented, activities include a brief history, sound advice for safety and equipment, and connections to vendors and venues. Gives links to a variety of package tours, as well.
